ALPHA QLD

Alpha is a rural town with a population of 560 people.
It was named after an early property in the area which was taken up in 1863 and then became established as a service town for railway construction workers.

The region is famous for its petrified wood and being “The Town of Murals”
They have all been painted by local resident artists and pay tribute to the pioneers of the bush and history.
The region is also Cattle Country…..and the smell of wafting cattle trucks let you know where you are. You do get used to it. 😉😂

There’s 27 of them in all….I missed a few as I couldn’t find them, but the ones we did find were all very good.

And the Brolga’s make another appearance.

This is the Information centre….

And museum……

Old horse gear..

Rabbit traps….

The old telephone switchboards….

School desks

Cash registers and shoe mending

I always wanted a pair of these but my Mum was too scared I’d break my neck……she was probably right as I was nicknamed Awkward Annie
😂😂

How creepy does this doll look 😳

We also went for a walk through the local park.

This was made from barbed wire….every bit of him, even his nuts 🤣🤣

Mum and her calf all made from bits of scrap metal and her udders from springs. Very clever.

Well that’s it. We’ve been here a couple of days now so time to move on.

Not really sure where to….but I’m sure it will involve a photo or two 😉😉

Take care 🦋🦋
