DINGO. QLD

We’ve stayed another day here at Dingo as my back is a bit sore once again…..
so I just put my brace on, and went for a walk around the small township……best to walk it out. 😊

In August each year, the Dingo Race club holds the annual Dingo Race Day and World Dingo Trap Throwing Competition at The local Bauman Park.

The event was attended by 2000 people in 2019 when it celebrated its 30th Anniversary. 
This figure grew to 4,000 when the event returned in 2021 😊 after being cancelled in 2020 due to Covid.

In Australia the cruel steel-jaw trap is banned in the ACT and NSW, although it is still widely used in other states.
It is also banned in 68 countries around the world, and in some states in America. 

While we were camped back at Morven Qld…….there was a premises in the back streets that had a sign up…

$25 paid for wild dog scalps!!! WTF ???

I had no idea what that meant so I had to Google it ……wish I hadn’t 😳🤦‍♀️ I can’t un-see that now. 🤦‍♀️

I couldn’t believe it……but that’s the plight of the farmer to try to control them.

I’d never be able to live on a farm 🫣🫣🤦‍♀️

So ending on a good note….

The sunset was gorgeous once again, and I turned around and there was the full moon…just beautiful. The night skies in the outback are just stunning. On a clear night, being there’s no other light, the stars are unbelievable. 🌟🌟🌟





And of course all the trucks that have come in off the road for the night, as well as a few caravaners ……..it’s the big State of Origin Final tonight, so they may have wanted to watch that.. it’s state against state…..NSW v QLD RUGBY
and it’s best out of 3 matches……both teams have won one each….so this is the decider. 

Ed is a QLD supporter …🙄….it’s such a tough game…..they are all built like 
“Brick Shithouses” 🤣🤣






We didn’t hear a thing all night, nor did we hear all the trucks leaving in the morning. 

I was able to buy a loaf of bread today from the fuel station here…..she said I could buy one as they had one to spare! $4.50! Bargain 😂😂😂 it’s the little things in life that give us joy….like getting bread for toast in the morning…😂😂😉

Tomorrow we are off…..not sure where too…. But you will be the first to know 😊

After staying two days at Dingo, we decided we would move on. We thought the wind may have settled down a bit today, but of course…it was still blowing…so off we went to tackle it.  Luckily for us we had a great wind break all along as it was quite thick bush. 😊 So a big day driving……all of 40km 🤣…we arrived at Duaringa.  We have been here a few times before, but it’s one of our favourite camp spots.  There’s a population of 262 people.  The Dawson River is close by, and supplies Duaringa’s town water. The Dawson and MacKenzie River both join up north-east of Duaringa to form the Fitzroy River, which eventually flows through the city of Rockhampton.  A mural depicting the three rivers is painted on the back of the Duaringa Historical & Info Centre, facing the Capricorn Highway….. WANDOAN QLD

Wandoan is a lovely town in the Western Downs Region. It was formerly known as Juandah. In 1926, it was renamed Wandoan to avoid confusion with Jundah….near Longreach.  Population is 566…..with the median age of people being 38 years old! (You’d have to be young to work on this land) Travelling here through the bush, there were a lot of dead kangaroos (which isn’t unusual ) but there were loads of huge black bores dead on the road. Hate to hit one of those big buggers! There is no TV reception here, so every man and their dog has a satellite dish.🤣🤣 (Last night we stayed at the small town of Taroom….but they had no TV and no Internet!! 😳😳) Danny Deckchair made another appearance…..you kids will know what I’m talking about 🤣🤣🤣🙄 There is no rail service here,  so the old train station now houses the tourist info centre.  It’s a very interesting town.  Good doggie.. MORE TRAVELS BACK TO TWEED HEADS.

Left Forbes in the rain and headed to Dunedoo…population 1,000   Lighting wasn’t that good as it decided to come over stormy. We stayed the night at the small caravan park, $30….. bit overpriced, but like everything….the price has gone up.  Next day, after travelling on some horrific roads…..we got to Merriwa. We stayed behind the Pub, which was free, got some shopping an the local IGA, found this lovely Mural on the side wall made out of corrugated iron…. And basically stayed in the caravan as it rained all day and night.  Luckily next day, it had stopped raining, it was very muddy though where we were staying. Yuk  Headed off again, road conditions got worse, and stopped for the night at Gerry’s Plains.  It’s our usual stop free stop over. We found a nice spot next to the fence line, and had an audience as we set up. These horses are always here to greet you every time we come.
