WYALONG. NSW

We arrived at Wyalong about lunchtime today. Wyalong is about 4 km before the town of West Wyalong.

We are parked up at a lovely free camp spot called Cooinda Park. It’s a great spot as it’s within walking distance (about 4km)into the town centre along the pathway of the Newell Highway.
You get to see all the old homes as it’s a very old mining town.

However, this time, we found what’s called the Green walkway.

It’s a memorial to all the service men and women of the town.

You follow a small river with beautiful flowering Aussie gum trees.

Bird carving from a tree….

See that beautiful sky, well all of a sudden it changed, and we quickly turned around and power walked the 4 km back to the caravan….as we could hear the thunder getting closer.

We just got back in time before the heavens opened up. We even got hail, luckily it wasn’t too big.

Between Parkes and here, you could see how much rain NSW has actually had.

In some spots, we were travelling along the highway and all we could see on either side of the road was water.
It was just like an inland sea, and we both said it was quite an eerie feeling seeing it. We just had a small bit of bitumen, separating us from the floods.

The canola was under water, farms were cut off from the road…..not nice at all.

So as we are getting closer to Mildura, if this weather keeps up, we will just keep driving.
We do not want to be stuck out in flood waters crossing the Hay Plains. West Wyalong to Hay is 255km…….then Hay to Mildura is 293km
It’s a terrible road full of nothing for 548km, with dodgy phone service which is a horrible feeling.
So tomorrow we will check weather forecasts, keep in touch with family, and hopefully the rain pisses off 😕

This will be the last blog now until we get settled in Mildura, as there’s nothing nice to see from here on.

Stay safe everyone and I will keep in touch with you all.❤️❤️
