RIO VISTA PART 3

These last couple of photos are the end of this post of Rio Vista.



The marble fireplace was made and imported from Italy and the wallpaper is English Willesden and flooring is Western Australian Jarrah, so as you can imagine, no expense was spared, and was sourced from Australia and overseas. 

So down the stairs, and into the basement is where they hosted all the functions as that’s where the pantry and kitchens were located.
The stairs leading down there creaked, so the father would know if the children of the house had snuck out of their beds to have a peak at all the lovely gowns of the ladies at the ball, and the yummy food that was being served.
Lovely stories. 

So that was the end of the tour of the house. We then went to the newer addition which was an Art Gallery (you may have heard the groan from Ed when I walked in there) but he did come in and had a look around…under sufferance. 😂😂😂

They had an exhibition on there from a young artist. 



 I hope you can read it as it’s a great story of a young girl that overcame her demons through her art. 

I really enjoyed it. It’s not everyone’s cup of tea but I loved it. 

I loved it as she told a story through her art, that really touched me, and I could relate too.

Interesting story……I commented on these paintings on Jacklyn’s post on Facebook. 
She actually took the time to answer my comment and invited me back to Rio Vista to meet her which I thought was so nice. Unfortunately I couldn’t go at the time but we keep in touch through her site. Such a lovely young girl. 


So that’s the end of our time in Mildura. Tomorrow we leave for home..Tweed ❤️
We are really looking forward to getting there, but it might take longer than anticipated due to the horrible weather that’s happening throughout the eastern states.

I’ve pinched this photo of the Bridge over the Murray River here in Mildura at sunrise……just because I know someone that was the very first person to do a “back flip” from the bridge when it first opened. 😳😳🤦‍♀️
It’s a lovely place…… but we will be glad to see the beach again.



Can’t wait to get home ❤️❤️

MORE TRAVELS BACK TO TWEED HEADS.

Left Forbes in the rain and headed to Dunedoo…population 1,000   Lighting wasn’t that good as it decided to come over stormy. We stayed the night at the small caravan park, $30….. bit overpriced, but like everything….the price has gone up.  Next day, after travelling on some horrific roads…..we got to Merriwa. We stayed behind the Pub, which was free, got some shopping an the local IGA, found this lovely Mural on the side wall made out of corrugated iron…. And basically stayed in the caravan as it rained all day and night.  Luckily next day, it had stopped raining, it was very muddy though where we were staying. Yuk  Headed off again, road conditions got worse, and stopped for the night at Gerry’s Plains.  It’s our usual stop free stop over. We found a nice spot next to the fence line, and had an audience as we set up. These horses are always here to greet you every time we come. SEA LAKE, & MANANGATANG REVISTED.

We left  Charlton this morning in the fog. It didn’t take long to lift, and then the sun came through. It was a little windy, but luckily we weren’t driving into it.  As we do, we zig zaged and went the long way, stopping at Nandaly for lunch. Ed used to deliver there when he worked for Dons Smallgoods.  They have a pub, and the shop that Ed delivered to had been closed down for what looked like a long time.  Population 30  What they have done, is built a lovely free stop over for campers. There’s showers,  toilets, and two power sockets for caravans to plug into.  There was no one there to take advantage of it all though as they built it so people could drop into the pub for a feed.  So on we went after lunch along the Calder Highway and turned into what Google maps said was the way to Chinkapook.  Well we must have blinked as we couldn’t find it…….but 17 people live there! So we stopped at Sea Lake instead and went for a walk up the Main Street.  It’s not a big town, and there were a

FROM MUSWELLBROOK TO GRAFTON NSW

Between Muswellbrook and Singleton there were quite a few huge coal mines, and a huge power station. This Lake was built specifically by this huge Power Station…to cool down it down…and at its deepest is 35 metres deep.   The next town from there was Singleton, another mining town. We stopped for lunch, got out of the car and there was a terrible smell…..which we thought was just from all of the mines. So we went to get Subway for lunch, in the big shopping centre there….sat outside and we could still smell it.  Finished lunch then all of a sudden the alarm went off in the big shopping mall….and a recorded voice said “This is an emergency ……evacuate immediately” 😳 …..turns out it was a gas leak…..so off we went far, far away and let the fire brigade deal with it. We then drove all the way back to Muswellbrook and we’re glad to get there.  Next day we headed off and we arrived at Grafton and found this a nice place to camp for  two days.
