MULLUMBIMBY NSW.

Today we decided to go for a drive. We hadn’t been out of Tweed since we arrived 3 weeks ago…..and while we love it here…it’s just nice to see new places.

So in the car, on to the highway and headed south towards Mullumbimby which is about 40 klm from Tweed. It promotes itself as “The Biggest Little Town in Australia” and was given the name by Aboriginal people meaning Small Round Hill. Population 3,500

We put Mullumbimby into Google maps and of course it took us the long way.
We had to laugh as if there’s a dodgy way to go….we will find it ……if there’s a road that’s so narrow as it winds up the steepest of mountains….we will find it..
🤣🤣
But we crawled along as cars coming towards us were racing down the hill…. As I was inching my way up it with a huge drop on my side of the road 😳😳

So when we finally arrived…we were gobsmacked at the amount of people in the town…..and it was so hard to find a car park…..which we finally found, with a long walk.

Well this town was a real eye opener. I didn’t take many photos as there were people everywhere and I wasn’t comfortable taking any…..as they didn’t really seem the sort of people that would be happy with it.

There were lots of different smells coming from “different” shops…🤪🤪🤣🤣

Mullumbimby is a hot spot for the anti-vax movement. As of 2013, the towns vaccination rate was the lowest in Australia, with only 46% of children immunised.
It’s also the only remaining local government area in the Northern Rivers region to reject fluoridation of its water supply.

So we didn’t stay long there, as we were getting hungry….and not game enough to eat there 🤣🤣🤣……..so we found the road that we should have taken, and drove over the highway to Byron Bay.

Well….what can I say.

We could not understand why there were so many people on the road and in these towns……don’t people work any more? It’s Monday!

We drove into Byron…went around the roundabout and drove back out again as we knew we would never find a parking spot. It was ridiculously busy.

On the way in, just off the highway, we passed a lovely place called “The Farm”
Mark had taken me there a few years ago now for the first time, and I loved it.
So Ed and I called in there again today.

It was so busy….but it’s a huge place and there’s lots of outdoor places to sit or wander around.

So we had ham & cheese toasted croissant and coffee for lunch at the Three Blue Ducks restaurant…. then had a wander around.

They grow all the flowers and vegetables organically so you can take them home and plant the seedlings as well.

We had a lovely day and the weather was just perfect. 🌞🌞
