A VERY SCARY NIGHT

Holy Mother…..did we have a storm last night….and everyone that knows me….knows I hate living in the caravan when a storm hits. 

This is what was to come here in Scarborough. 




And we all know that anything bad….always happens at night…..and that’s when it hit. 
Ed went to bed as nothing worries him, and we’d had a very long walk and he was knackered.   There was no way I was going to bed, I needed to be fully alert ….just in case…🤣🤣…..plus I’d had a fall while walking…(again) and was in a bit of pain.

So I sat there waiting……and saw through the two skylights the lightening was getting closer and it was non stop. Then the thunder started. It was that sort of thunder that just doesn’t rumble…….it cracked…….loud…..and often. It was relentless. There was a bit of rain, but it was so windy. A true tropical storm. It had to happen as the weather had been so incredibly humid here. 
Once it passed I could finally go to bed knowing all was safe and the caravan had survived the storm. 

This morning we woke to a beautiful day. You would never have know there had been a storm….. But it was the talk of the caravan park…...with everyone asking if everyone was ok. 
I met a lady in the shower block and she asked if I was ok….I said I was fine thanks and I asked her if she had any damage……to which she replied her caravan was fine…..but the brand new car they had picked up yesterday morning wasn’t. She had forgotten to wind up the windows……hence the wet bum she had from going to the shops this morning. Whoops 😳

Tonight we had a lovely sky as the sun went down.






There has been another terrible storm happen up north from us tonight. So much hail that we didn’t get. It’s the season!
We have more storms to come all next week. 😳😩

It’s spectacular to look at now…..but scary when you’re right in the middle of it all at night.

TALLEBUDGERA , BURLEIGH & RAINBOW BEACH.

We have had beautiful warm weather this last week so we thought it was a good time to do a “Beach Crawl”.  We started with Burleigh Heads a few days ago. Bloody hell….we didn’t recognise the place! There are so many new high rise apartments getting built. The skyline was full of cranes which I know is progress, but the taller these buildings get….the more  shadows cross over the sand.  A lot of the apartments have been knocked down now….and where Mum and Dad lived…..that 2 story building is dwarfed by huge buildings.  Their old unit….and their new neighbours…. Bertie would not be happy…😳 🥰 This is Burleigh Beach looking towards Surfers Paradise and looking in the opposite direction towards Burleigh Hill which is a lovely spot.  You can walk around Burleigh Hill and it brings you out to Tallebudgera, which is a favourite of ours.  This part of Tallebudgera is where we all go fishing, and they also have a netted area to swim in so you don’t get any stingers...

DUARINGA QLD

After staying two days at Dingo, we decided we would move on. We thought the wind may have settled down a bit today, but of course…it was still blowing…so off we went to tackle it.  Luckily for us we had a great wind break all along as it was quite thick bush. 😊 So a big day driving……all of 40km 🤣…we arrived at Duaringa.  We have been here a few times before, but it’s one of our favourite camp spots.  There’s a population of 262 people.  The Dawson River is close by, and supplies Duaringa’s town water. The Dawson and MacKenzie River both join up north-east of Duaringa to form the Fitzroy River, which eventually flows through the city of Rockhampton.  A mural depicting the three rivers is painted on the back of the Duaringa Historical & Info Centre, facing the Capricorn Highway….. Also at the Info centre is a free WiFi point for all the travellers that need to charge, or need free WiFi which is a great idea.  I remember many years ago we were staying h...

WANDOAN QLD

Wandoan is a lovely town in the Western Downs Region. It was formerly known as Juandah. In 1926, it was renamed Wandoan to avoid confusion with Jundah….near Longreach.  Population is 566…..with the median age of people being 38 years old! (You’d have to be young to work on this land) Travelling here through the bush, there were a lot of dead kangaroos (which isn’t unusual ) but there were loads of huge black bores dead on the road. Hate to hit one of those big buggers! There is no TV reception here, so every man and their dog has a satellite dish.🤣🤣 (Last night we stayed at the small town of Taroom….but they had no TV and no Internet!! 😳😳) Danny Deckchair made another appearance…..you kids will know what I’m talking about 🤣🤣🤣🙄 There is no rail service here,  so the old train station now houses the tourist info centre.  It’s a very interesting town.  Good doggie..
