HAPPY 2023

Happy New Year everyone. 🥳🥳
I hope 2023 will be a happy, healthy year for you all. 

Today we had a surprise visit from Mark, Byron and his mate Joel. 

Let me go back a couple of days…..I was driving back to the caravan park as we had been out to the chemist. We were nearly home when the car decided to have a hissey fit.
All the dash lights came on, and a warning message to say the car was going into battery save mode…..which meant I lost the air conditioning, the windows would not wind down as they are electric, and the indicators wouldn’t work, and the car lost power. 

Now that’s a pain in the arse when you are travelling along a busy highway and you need to indicate to change lanes and do a right hand turn. You just have to close your eyes and pray you don’t hit anyone. 


I  managed to get to the caravan park, Ed had to get out as I couldn’t wind down the windows to operate the boom gate. I was so relieved to get to the caravan and get out of the car. 
So I rang the RACQ (breakdown service)to come out and check out the car……. Turns out our alternator had failed, rendering all electrics useless as the battery had drained because of it. 

So he replaced the alternator….($520) happy new year…and left saying we needed to get the car checked out as it was still making a terrible noise. Great. Everyone is on holidays. 

Ed made a phone call to Byron as we were worried about the noise. 
Unbeknown to me….Mark drove all the way from Tweed with Byron and his mate….to check out the car. 
How nice was that. Byron looked under the bonnet…and found the problem. 
Would you believe it was the plastic cover on the motor vibrating! 
Bloody hell….the little rubber plugs that keep the cover on had twisted after being put back on wrong and some had worn… so they just need replacing. Those boys drove all that way just for a vibrating cover when the RACQ  man had told us to get the motor checked out. Bullshit!

So thank goodness for Byron! Bless him…and Mark for driving him all the way here. 

We were so thankful. We thought we were up for so much more money. It always pays to get a second opinion….even from the RACQ. 

So anyone that knows Ed…..knows how much he worries. Especially when he doesn’t know what’s wrong with the car. 

Now we can relax. 

2023…….please be kind to us all this year…..goodness knows we all deserve it.🥰🥰🥰

DUARINGA QLD

After staying two days at Dingo, we decided we would move on. We thought the wind may have settled down a bit today, but of course…it was still blowing…so off we went to tackle it.  Luckily for us we had a great wind break all along as it was quite thick bush. 😊 So a big day driving……all of 40km 🤣…we arrived at Duaringa.  We have been here a few times before, but it’s one of our favourite camp spots.  There’s a population of 262 people.  The Dawson River is close by, and supplies Duaringa’s town water. The Dawson and MacKenzie River both join up north-east of Duaringa to form the Fitzroy River, which eventually flows through the city of Rockhampton.  A mural depicting the three rivers is painted on the back of the Duaringa Historical & Info Centre, facing the Capricorn Highway….. WANDOAN QLD

Wandoan is a lovely town in the Western Downs Region. It was formerly known as Juandah. In 1926, it was renamed Wandoan to avoid confusion with Jundah….near Longreach.  Population is 566…..with the median age of people being 38 years old! (You’d have to be young to work on this land) Travelling here through the bush, there were a lot of dead kangaroos (which isn’t unusual ) but there were loads of huge black bores dead on the road. Hate to hit one of those big buggers! There is no TV reception here, so every man and their dog has a satellite dish.🤣🤣 (Last night we stayed at the small town of Taroom….but they had no TV and no Internet!! 😳😳) Danny Deckchair made another appearance…..you kids will know what I’m talking about 🤣🤣🤣🙄 There is no rail service here,  so the old train station now houses the tourist info centre.  It’s a very interesting town.  Good doggie.. MORE TRAVELS BACK TO TWEED HEADS.

Left Forbes in the rain and headed to Dunedoo…population 1,000   Lighting wasn’t that good as it decided to come over stormy. We stayed the night at the small caravan park, $30….. bit overpriced, but like everything….the price has gone up.  Next day, after travelling on some horrific roads…..we got to Merriwa. We stayed behind the Pub, which was free, got some shopping an the local IGA, found this lovely Mural on the side wall made out of corrugated iron…. And basically stayed in the caravan as it rained all day and night.  Luckily next day, it had stopped raining, it was very muddy though where we were staying. Yuk  Headed off again, road conditions got worse, and stopped for the night at Gerry’s Plains.  It’s our usual stop free stop over. We found a nice spot next to the fence line, and had an audience as we set up. These horses are always here to greet you every time we come.
