ANOTHER NEW ADVENTURE

It’s been just over a month since we got back from our lovely holiday at Scarborough and gorgeous Clontarf.

We’ve sat at Tweed Heads, doing all the things you do when you get home. 
Doctors, cleaning the caravan top to bottom, buying new camping chairs, getting the car repaired and serviced and Ed catching up with his bowls mates and getting as many games played as possible. 

We also had Ed’s brother Gerry and his wife visit us from Mildura for two weeks.

Now it’s our turn 😊😊

So at 6.30 this morning we packed up and drove out the gates of our Park. 
It was such a good feeling to be back on the road again. 
The road was very quiet being it’s a Saturday, and also this highway, is such a lovely four lane highway….so no pressure….every one can pass me as I take my sweet time. 😊

We had a 450 klm trip today as we’d booked into Wauchope Showgrounds. I was glad to get out of the car by the time we got here as I’m a bit rusty with long distances…….it’s been a while 😉



It’s warm, but there’s a lovely breeze, and of course the air con is cranking 🥶





We have been here numerous times as it’s always a good stopover. We had only wanted to be here for 2 days, but it’s going to have to be a bit longer as we can’t get into our next stop for a while. ( That’s another story for tomorrow🙄)

We are off for a walk now as the sun is going down so it will cool down hopefully.

DUARINGA QLD

After staying two days at Dingo, we decided we would move on. We thought the wind may have settled down a bit today, but of course…it was still blowing…so off we went to tackle it.  Luckily for us we had a great wind break all along as it was quite thick bush. 😊 So a big day driving……all of 40km 🤣…we arrived at Duaringa.  We have been here a few times before, but it’s one of our favourite camp spots.  There’s a population of 262 people.  The Dawson River is close by, and supplies Duaringa’s town water. The Dawson and MacKenzie River both join up north-east of Duaringa to form the Fitzroy River, which eventually flows through the city of Rockhampton.  A mural depicting the three rivers is painted on the back of the Duaringa Historical & Info Centre, facing the Capricorn Highway….. WANDOAN QLD

Wandoan is a lovely town in the Western Downs Region. It was formerly known as Juandah. In 1926, it was renamed Wandoan to avoid confusion with Jundah….near Longreach.  Population is 566…..with the median age of people being 38 years old! (You’d have to be young to work on this land) Travelling here through the bush, there were a lot of dead kangaroos (which isn’t unusual ) but there were loads of huge black bores dead on the road. Hate to hit one of those big buggers! There is no TV reception here, so every man and their dog has a satellite dish.🤣🤣 (Last night we stayed at the small town of Taroom….but they had no TV and no Internet!! 😳😳) Danny Deckchair made another appearance…..you kids will know what I’m talking about 🤣🤣🤣🙄 There is no rail service here,  so the old train station now houses the tourist info centre.  It’s a very interesting town.  Good doggie.. MORE TRAVELS BACK TO TWEED HEADS.

Left Forbes in the rain and headed to Dunedoo…population 1,000   Lighting wasn’t that good as it decided to come over stormy. We stayed the night at the small caravan park, $30….. bit overpriced, but like everything….the price has gone up.  Next day, after travelling on some horrific roads…..we got to Merriwa. We stayed behind the Pub, which was free, got some shopping an the local IGA, found this lovely Mural on the side wall made out of corrugated iron…. And basically stayed in the caravan as it rained all day and night.  Luckily next day, it had stopped raining, it was very muddy though where we were staying. Yuk  Headed off again, road conditions got worse, and stopped for the night at Gerry’s Plains.  It’s our usual stop free stop over. We found a nice spot next to the fence line, and had an audience as we set up. These horses are always here to greet you every time we come.
