LAZY SUNDAYS

Haven’t done a lot today……still in recovery mode I think from that drive 😜

Last night we went for a walk from the Showgrounds into the town centre. It’s not far but I’d forgotten that we are up the top of the hill……and what goes down…must come back up again…..🥵

There’s not really much in this town, but there’s a lovely IGA supermarket that sells everything so fresh and it’s so clean. 

The shops are varied, little cafes, dress shops ect……..but what makes this town stand out is how unique the shops are. 
The shop buildings are very old, and all the shop tenants decorate their shops depending on what season we are currently in. 







Every time we’ve been here, this shop has the most unusual front display window. Their Christmas one was amazing, and now we have Easter.


There are murals as well dotted around the town. 







So continuing on last nights story. 

Before we left Tweed, we were searching for places to visit where we hadn’t been before. 

Many years ago we met a lovely couple in Boyd’s Bay caravan park at Tweed, Graham & Pam. 
Lovely couple…….. they couldn’t have children so decided to sell everything, buy a caravan, and travel full time. 
They came in and out of Boyd’s over the years and we would catch up, then we both would go our seperate ways.

The last time they left, about 10 years ago, we didn’t see them again…..but low and behold, we met up with them at our lovely caravan park at Clontarf, this Christmas gone. Amazing!!
They had been touring Western Oz and South Oz for 6 years, and had just come back. 
It was so nice to catch up with them both again. We had lots to talk about. 

So, I digress……

Before they left all those years ago from Tweed, they told us to make sure on our travels, to go visit a place called Stockton, which is near Newcastle (NSW) on the east coast. 

Well we never got there…..so this time, they reminded us of the place, and so we have now got it on our list to visit.

But……it’s very very popular,  being that it’s on the beach. 
I tried ringing yesterday, finally got through only to be told that there’s a huge 
V8 Motor Car race in Newcastle and they are booked out until the 19th of March.

So…..after a lot of phone calls back and forward yesterday….we are finally booked in for the 19th……For a WEEK!!! We are so excited! 

It just means we stay here a few more extra days, then we go to Taree for a couple until then. 

It’s a lovely area around here and we are not too far from the beach, the weather is lovely, so it’s no hardship. 

Sorry that was a bit long winded but that’s me! It’s all about the details 😌😂😂


We’ve just got a new neighbour.



A lovely young girl travelling all by herself……just done all her washing by hand.
$10 @ night with no power……in her own “high-rise” roof top tent. 
They lock us all in at night here (we can go out as we have a code to get back in) but I think that’s great for young girls on their own to feel safe.

DUARINGA QLD

After staying two days at Dingo, we decided we would move on. We thought the wind may have settled down a bit today, but of course…it was still blowing…so off we went to tackle it.  Luckily for us we had a great wind break all along as it was quite thick bush. 😊 So a big day driving……all of 40km 🤣…we arrived at Duaringa.  We have been here a few times before, but it’s one of our favourite camp spots.  There’s a population of 262 people.  The Dawson River is close by, and supplies Duaringa’s town water. The Dawson and MacKenzie River both join up north-east of Duaringa to form the Fitzroy River, which eventually flows through the city of Rockhampton.  A mural depicting the three rivers is painted on the back of the Duaringa Historical & Info Centre, facing the Capricorn Highway….. WANDOAN QLD

Wandoan is a lovely town in the Western Downs Region. It was formerly known as Juandah. In 1926, it was renamed Wandoan to avoid confusion with Jundah….near Longreach.  Population is 566…..with the median age of people being 38 years old! (You’d have to be young to work on this land) Travelling here through the bush, there were a lot of dead kangaroos (which isn’t unusual ) but there were loads of huge black bores dead on the road. Hate to hit one of those big buggers! There is no TV reception here, so every man and their dog has a satellite dish.🤣🤣 (Last night we stayed at the small town of Taroom….but they had no TV and no Internet!! 😳😳) Danny Deckchair made another appearance…..you kids will know what I’m talking about 🤣🤣🤣🙄 There is no rail service here,  so the old train station now houses the tourist info centre.  It’s a very interesting town.  Good doggie.. MORE TRAVELS BACK TO TWEED HEADS.

Left Forbes in the rain and headed to Dunedoo…population 1,000   Lighting wasn’t that good as it decided to come over stormy. We stayed the night at the small caravan park, $30….. bit overpriced, but like everything….the price has gone up.  Next day, after travelling on some horrific roads…..we got to Merriwa. We stayed behind the Pub, which was free, got some shopping an the local IGA, found this lovely Mural on the side wall made out of corrugated iron…. And basically stayed in the caravan as it rained all day and night.  Luckily next day, it had stopped raining, it was very muddy though where we were staying. Yuk  Headed off again, road conditions got worse, and stopped for the night at Gerry’s Plains.  It’s our usual stop free stop over. We found a nice spot next to the fence line, and had an audience as we set up. These horses are always here to greet you every time we come. So I had a lovely view while doing the dishes out of my kitchen window all afternoo...
