PORT MACQUARIE
Today we decided on a trip over the highway to Port Macquarie. It was a very warm day, so a trip to the beach sounded like a good idea……sort of π

It caused terrible damage which can be seen around the town…..but they are slowly recovering. It’s a beautiful town.

Walking along the bar was nice though as it was more protected from the wind.

This was Lake Cathie. This was an inlet from the sea……and the Lake was behind us.

This was a nice area to swim as it was netted off from the beach and you felt safer. I climbed down the ladder and felt the water which wasn’t too bad. It was getting hotter and Ed was feeling the heat, so we didn’t stay long and got back into the car where it was cooler for him.
So Jan decided to wear a beach dress as it was so warm. Omg! Wrong!
Being that we were over near the Coast, it was blowing a bloody gale…..and Jans’s dress was wrapping up and around her neck…..it wasn’t a pretty site, and I’m sure I heard the towns evacuation siren go off more than once! πππ³π€·♀️π€·♀️
What a nightmare, so I ended having an epiphany …….I tied knots in the bottom of the dress which made it a bit heavier at the hem….and it stayed down ……poor people of Port Macquarie.
Port Mac have had their share of disasters lately…(including mine) .In 2019 they had terrible fires, then floods, and in February this year they had what was called a micro burst…like a mini cyclone.

Today, because of the wind, the sea wasn’t playing nice and there were lots of Rips. So swimming was not advised. Good for the kite surfers though.

We went into the big shopping centre to cool down…and had a cold drink and a pastry for lunch. It was yum….
Then walked back to the car…..and went for a drive around the coast line.

It was too warm to stay out of the car for very long……and we all know how bloody hot the sand gets …..so didn’t venture down to the water. Too scared π₯΅π³π€£π€£ ouch!
We then drove on and found another little seaside town called North Haven.

As it was getting warmer, 36degrees was just too hot…..we decided to drive home. It was lovely to be in the air conditioning comfort of the car, and the drive back was through a lovely Forrest.
We are now back in the cool van and Ed has prepared dinner for tonight.
Change of subject……I spoke to our young girl neighbour this morning. She is a backpacker from Germany.
She came over to Oz in 2020 but was caught up in Covid so had to fly back home.
She loved it here so much she wanted to come back…..so she arrived in WA, bought her set up and is loving it. I asked her if she was happy driving on her own, and she said she meets lots of people doing exactly the same, and sometimes she shares a camp with them….. but prefers to travel on her own.
She left this morning and is on her way North.
We meet some lovely people on our travels. ππ
Take care everyone ❤️❤️❤️
