THE GOOD AND THE BAD

You really have to take the good with the bad when you travel full time in a caravan. I know I’ve said it all before, but when it’s bad…..it’s bad. 

I took you on a tour of our lovely “home” here at Taree yesterday. It’s such a pretty place.

Fast forward 24 hours……..







This rain was not predicted, and I really feel so sorry for those people not far from here that have been told to leave everything behind and evacuate their homes immediately as they live near a river. 😢

We are safe enough here, as they would have moved us to higher ground.
But it doesn’t make it any easier wading through water up to you ankles.

So our new chairs got wet, our outdoor oven is inside trying to dry out, our little outside fridge is in the back of the car drying out…….we had no idea this rain was coming otherwise we would have been prepared. 

We are still ankle deep in water….and everything sticks to your feet so I have wet grass everywhere in the van, as it’s sticks like glue to your feet and legs.

The water decided to leak through our aerial inlet over the bed, the water came in all around the toilet for some unknown reason in the bathroom…….that’s the trouble with leaks, you can never find where they originate from as water travels in all directions.
But …….I’m still smiling…….bullshit I’m pissed off…….😂😂😂😡😡😡

Living in a caravan is a roller coaster of emotions, one day you’re having a great time…….and the next day you want to burn it to the ground……but you know you can’t as you have no where else to go. 

And it’s started to piss down again. Poor Ed is melting as I have the heater going in the bathroom to dry the floor and all of the towels I’ve used to mop up, and the windows are shut…..I can’t put the air con on for him as these electricity boxes can’t handle too much power at once……I’ve already blown the fuse 3 times 😳🫣

So that’s my whinge…..even our thongs want to move out…..😂😂



They are floating away…..one of mine has run for the hills…😂😂🤣

DUARINGA QLD

After staying two days at Dingo, we decided we would move on. We thought the wind may have settled down a bit today, but of course…it was still blowing…so off we went to tackle it.  Luckily for us we had a great wind break all along as it was quite thick bush. 😊 So a big day driving……all of 40km 🤣…we arrived at Duaringa.  We have been here a few times before, but it’s one of our favourite camp spots.  There’s a population of 262 people.  The Dawson River is close by, and supplies Duaringa’s town water. The Dawson and MacKenzie River both join up north-east of Duaringa to form the Fitzroy River, which eventually flows through the city of Rockhampton.  A mural depicting the three rivers is painted on the back of the Duaringa Historical & Info Centre, facing the Capricorn Highway….. WANDOAN QLD

Wandoan is a lovely town in the Western Downs Region. It was formerly known as Juandah. In 1926, it was renamed Wandoan to avoid confusion with Jundah….near Longreach.  Population is 566…..with the median age of people being 38 years old! (You’d have to be young to work on this land) Travelling here through the bush, there were a lot of dead kangaroos (which isn’t unusual ) but there were loads of huge black bores dead on the road. Hate to hit one of those big buggers! There is no TV reception here, so every man and their dog has a satellite dish.🤣🤣 (Last night we stayed at the small town of Taroom….but they had no TV and no Internet!! 😳😳) Danny Deckchair made another appearance…..you kids will know what I’m talking about 🤣🤣🤣🙄 There is no rail service here,  so the old train station now houses the tourist info centre.  It’s a very interesting town.  Good doggie.. MORE TRAVELS BACK TO TWEED HEADS.

Left Forbes in the rain and headed to Dunedoo…population 1,000   Lighting wasn’t that good as it decided to come over stormy. We stayed the night at the small caravan park, $30….. bit overpriced, but like everything….the price has gone up.  Next day, after travelling on some horrific roads…..we got to Merriwa. We stayed behind the Pub, which was free, got some shopping an the local IGA, found this lovely Mural on the side wall made out of corrugated iron…. And basically stayed in the caravan as it rained all day and night.  Luckily next day, it had stopped raining, it was very muddy though where we were staying. Yuk  Headed off again, road conditions got worse, and stopped for the night at Gerry’s Plains.  It’s our usual stop free stop over. We found a nice spot next to the fence line, and had an audience as we set up. These horses are always here to greet you every time we come.
