BACK AT CHARLTON & A DRIVE TO DONALD, VICTORIA.

We decided to spend another 3 days at Charlton before we head back to Mildura. It’s a great place to stay as it’s right in town and you can walk everywhere.

Yesterday we went for a drive over to Donald. We cannot remember the last time we were there, so much so, that I couldn’t even remember the place.

We parked the car here at the local park, crossed the bridge and walked into the town along the highway instead of the river walk. We would do that on the way back to the car.

Lucky we did as we came across this lovely little Museum.

There was an old Jail, it was creepy…looking in there wasn’t nice …..

That face looking back at you was not a pretty sight ….😳

Either his head was on backwards, or his feet πŸ˜³πŸ˜³πŸ€” …

This drinking trough had a lovely story attached to it…..

Lovely story.

When this place is open….( which it wasn’t 😟) you are asked for a gold coin donation. Would have loved to have seen inside all the exhibits.

Further along, you come into the town itself. It’s a pretty town and there are plaques on every shop and building, explaining what the shop or buildings were  when first built, what they were originally used for and what they became through the years.
On reading so many of them, nearly every shop and building, had at some stage been burnt down completely, or damaged by fire! And built again as something different.

Walking down the street, Ed remembered it was Mothers Day, so we found the only shop open and went inside. I think every Mum in Donald was in there as well as it was a bit noisy.
But we had a lovely coffee, and were given a chocolate on the side….and Ed had a bag of hot chips.

So from there we walked to the end of the town and found a sign that said
“River Walk”

I’ll do another post for that as there’s a very interesting “story” attached with that walk….as always πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

Take care ❤️❤️
