WEDDERBURN VICTORIA.

From Boort, we turned on to the Boort-Wedderburn Rd, and drove through some lovely farming properties to Wedderburn. 

There’s only one caravan park in the town, so we made our way there. The manager there was very nice, introduced himself, and said “everyone calls me Deisel” 🤣😂😂
So we paid, and then we’re shown our drive through site, with power and water for $20@night. 
There’s a few people here, but we are not crammed in. It’s a popular place for Gold Fossicking. 
The park is in a bush setting, on a hill, with lovely clean amenities that look very new. 
We were told there’s a short walk into town, but forgot to mention the hills.🤔😂😮‍💨😮‍💨…..but it was a good workout. 

There’s 950 people in the town, with a local Pub, Chemist, and a Foodland Store that stocks everything you need. 
I went in for coffee, bread and a chocolate for each of us (as it was a long walk)
And she forgot to charge for the bread, which is very strange for a supermarket. 
Maybe she was giving out bread to the pensioners today. 👍
So went back, uphill, 🤪….had some lunch then went back for another walk sightseeing. 

What a pretty town this is.

DUARINGA QLD

After staying two days at Dingo, we decided we would move on. We thought the wind may have settled down a bit today, but of course…it was still blowing…so off we went to tackle it.  Luckily for us we had a great wind break all along as it was quite thick bush. 😊 So a big day driving……all of 40km 🤣…we arrived at Duaringa.  We have been here a few times before, but it’s one of our favourite camp spots.  There’s a population of 262 people.  The Dawson River is close by, and supplies Duaringa’s town water. The Dawson and MacKenzie River both join up north-east of Duaringa to form the Fitzroy River, which eventually flows through the city of Rockhampton.  A mural depicting the three rivers is painted on the back of the Duaringa Historical & Info Centre, facing the Capricorn Highway….. WANDOAN QLD

Wandoan is a lovely town in the Western Downs Region. It was formerly known as Juandah. In 1926, it was renamed Wandoan to avoid confusion with Jundah….near Longreach.  Population is 566…..with the median age of people being 38 years old! (You’d have to be young to work on this land) Travelling here through the bush, there were a lot of dead kangaroos (which isn’t unusual ) but there were loads of huge black bores dead on the road. Hate to hit one of those big buggers! There is no TV reception here, so every man and their dog has a satellite dish.🤣🤣 (Last night we stayed at the small town of Taroom….but they had no TV and no Internet!! 😳😳) Danny Deckchair made another appearance…..you kids will know what I’m talking about 🤣🤣🤣🙄 There is no rail service here,  so the old train station now houses the tourist info centre.  It’s a very interesting town.  Good doggie.. MELVILLE CAVES…..KOOYOORA STATE PARK, BRENANAH, VICTORIA.

That was a mouthful of an address, but what a magic spot it turned out to be. Melville Caves are on top of a spectacular Rocky Mountain. You follow a steep path through the park, past lots of huge boulders. And you come to this beautiful lookout. It was a stunning view. From there, you go around the huge boulders, down a path, and around to the caves.  It reminded me of the Grampians. You have to squeeze through these rocks…..then squeeze through more…. And into the caves.  The caves are called Melville Caves after a notorious bush ranger , Captain Melville, who used the caves as a hiding place and lookout, in the mid 19th century. (Born 1860-1869). He would see the coaches come through carrying the Gold, and ambush them.  So when you squeeze through that crack, you come into the cave itself.  I made Ed go through first 😂😂😂😂😳😳😳 Giving me the “all clear” 👍😂 It was so cold, and very quiet….but a nice feeling at the same time when you thought about the history ...
