WEST WYALONG PART 2

We’ve been here in West Wyalong for 3 days now.
It’s a lovely place to stay here at the Reserve, being that’s it’s a huge area, very clean and tidy and about a 4klm 
walk into town. 
There is a lovely new walking track with gorgeous flowering gums, wattle and pretty flowering ground cover plants. 



We do the walk everyday and never tire of it. 

These rocks can be found in the reserve where we are.


You are encouraged to take a rock with you on your travels, leave it anywhere on your travels and document it on their Facebook page. 
We find many different rocks on our travels from all over the country. 





When we walked into town today, we found another pretty 
Park. 


These birds have been carved out of the top of the tree. 



And this sign, spells out HOPE and is all lit up at night. 

It was amazing as there were so many locks that were on it with engravings on each one. 



So impressed with the Council for doing that, as most places we visit the local councils won’t allow it…..and they cut them off. 
This one here, you were encouraged to do it. Well done 
West Wyalong. ❤️



There was a plane in the park, and yes…..that propeller did turn. 🤣🤣





And this massive art piece was only just finished. 
It was hard to take a photo because of the size of it, but it was so nice…….and it’s the first thing you see when you come into town. 

We have decided to stay for another couple of days as it’s a lovely place. 

It’s a free stopover with water, no power but our solar is doing a great job. We’ve spent a bit of money in the town on groceries and over a hundred dollars on fuel….which is what we do in return for being able to stay here. 



We are in no hurry😊😊

DUARINGA QLD

After staying two days at Dingo, we decided we would move on. We thought the wind may have settled down a bit today, but of course…it was still blowing…so off we went to tackle it.  Luckily for us we had a great wind break all along as it was quite thick bush. 😊 So a big day driving……all of 40km 🤣…we arrived at Duaringa.  We have been here a few times before, but it’s one of our favourite camp spots.  There’s a population of 262 people.  The Dawson River is close by, and supplies Duaringa’s town water. The Dawson and MacKenzie River both join up north-east of Duaringa to form the Fitzroy River, which eventually flows through the city of Rockhampton.  A mural depicting the three rivers is painted on the back of the Duaringa Historical & Info Centre, facing the Capricorn Highway….. WANDOAN QLD

Wandoan is a lovely town in the Western Downs Region. It was formerly known as Juandah. In 1926, it was renamed Wandoan to avoid confusion with Jundah….near Longreach.  Population is 566…..with the median age of people being 38 years old! (You’d have to be young to work on this land) Travelling here through the bush, there were a lot of dead kangaroos (which isn’t unusual ) but there were loads of huge black bores dead on the road. Hate to hit one of those big buggers! There is no TV reception here, so every man and their dog has a satellite dish.🤣🤣 (Last night we stayed at the small town of Taroom….but they had no TV and no Internet!! 😳😳) Danny Deckchair made another appearance…..you kids will know what I’m talking about 🤣🤣🤣🙄 There is no rail service here,  so the old train station now houses the tourist info centre.  It’s a very interesting town.  Good doggie.. MORE TRAVELS BACK TO TWEED HEADS.

Left Forbes in the rain and headed to Dunedoo…population 1,000   Lighting wasn’t that good as it decided to come over stormy. We stayed the night at the small caravan park, $30….. bit overpriced, but like everything….the price has gone up.  Next day, after travelling on some horrific roads…..we got to Merriwa. We stayed behind the Pub, which was free, got some shopping an the local IGA, found this lovely Mural on the side wall made out of corrugated iron…. And basically stayed in the caravan as it rained all day and night.  Luckily next day, it had stopped raining, it was very muddy though where we were staying. Yuk  Headed off again, road conditions got worse, and stopped for the night at Gerry’s Plains.  It’s our usual stop free stop over. We found a nice spot next to the fence line, and had an audience as we set up. These horses are always here to greet you every time we come.
