FROM MUSWELLBROOK TO GRAFTON NSW

Image
Between Muswellbrook and Singleton there were quite a few huge coal mines, and a huge power station. This Lake was built specifically by this huge Power Station…to cool down it down…and at its deepest is 35 metres deep.   The next town from there was Singleton, another mining town. We stopped for lunch, got out of the car and there was a terrible smell…..which we thought was just from all of the mines. So we went to get Subway for lunch, in the big shopping centre there….sat outside and we could still smell it.  Finished lunch then all of a sudden the alarm went off in the big shopping mall….and a recorded voice said “This is an emergency ……evacuate immediately” ๐Ÿ˜ณ …..turns out it was a gas leak…..so off we went far, far away and let the fire brigade deal with it. We then drove all the way back to Muswellbrook and we’re glad to get there.  Next day we headed off and we arrived at Grafton and found this a nice place to camp for  two days. This belongs to the Grafton Vintage Car Club, an

We drove to the railway station today as we’ve passed by it so many times and it looked so pretty. It’s a very busy station, being it transports coal from the local mines, and passengers as well to Sydney, Newcastle and beyond.  We can hear the trains from where we are at the Showgrounds if the wind is blowing in the right direction.  Next to the station is a lovely park.  We have seen the Magpies swooping the kids on bikes coming home from school….it’s that time of the year. ๐Ÿ˜ณ The Plovers are also out and about so watch out for those bloody things that come and dive-bomb you. ๐Ÿซฃ There’s a few of these where we are at the moment too. Bastards…. I keep feeding the magpies hoping we stay friends ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ

MURRURUNDI

We did a lovely drive today up the New England Highway that takes you through some gorgeous mountain scenery. The road condition was great  with no pot holes and plenty of overtaking lanes as it’s the main highway to Tamworth.  We stopped at the lovely town of Murrurundi which was about 65 klms from where we are staying.  What a gorgeous little country town it was, surrounded by stunning views of the surrounding mountains….and the weather was picture perfect ๐Ÿ˜‰ This town was awarded Tidy Town in 2019. You can also adopt a “spot” and help in the upkeep of it.  This area is Horse Stud Heaven. We took a drive around the area and it was stunning.  The Godolphin Stud is out here as well as Gerry’s Plains. What a lovely drive it was through this beautiful part of NSW. ❤️❤️

MUSWELLBROOK. NSW

We’ve been here at Muswellbrook for a couple of days now. We’ve got our bearings of the town, and are lucky enough to have, Coles, Chemist Warehouse and the Reject Shop just a stones throw away from us…..within walking distance…….so what more could you want ๐Ÿ˜‚ We’ve had some beautiful days…..but my goodness it gets so cold……cold enough to snow, which it has been known to do here. ๐Ÿ˜ณ๐Ÿฅถ Luckily this just missed us…but the blast of icy wind didn’t. ๐Ÿฅถ๐Ÿฅถ Yesterday we heard them blasting at one of the coal mines close by…..made the ground move……luckily I knew what it was as I was outside at the time. There are a lot of heritage listed buildings in the town. Just a walk through town and you can spot many of them ….. And the Churches in this town are massive and so stunning. The town itself is very hilly, so a walk around it is a great workout. ๐Ÿ˜ฎ‍๐Ÿ’จ It got a bit chilly in the afternoon so after having Subway for lunch, we came home. Ed went outside to rig up an Anderson plug so he can put a

Left Forbes in the rain and headed to Dunedoo…population 1,000   Lighting wasn’t that good as it decided to come over stormy. We stayed the night at the small caravan park, $30….. bit overpriced, but like everything….the price has gone up.  Next day, after travelling on some horrific roads…..we got to Merriwa. We stayed behind the Pub, which was free, got some shopping an the local IGA, found this lovely Mural on the side wall made out of corrugated iron…. And basically stayed in the caravan as it rained all day and night.  Luckily next day, it had stopped raining, it was very muddy though where we were staying. Yuk  Headed off again, road conditions got worse, and stopped for the night at Gerry’s Plains.  It’s our usual stop free stop over. We found a nice spot next to the fence line, and had an audience as we set up. These horses are always here to greet you every time we come. So I had a lovely view while doing the dishes out of my kitchen window all afternoon๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚ So we left that be
