DUARINGA QLD
After staying two days at Dingo, we decided we would move on.
The Dawson River is close by, and supplies Duaringa’s town water.
There was also a small pioneer cemetery that we had a quick walk through.
All around the small township are these metal information signs. I love finding them all, as sometimes you come across a building and wonder what that place used to be. So I was so happy to find these dotted around. We stand back and look at the building and guess what we think it used to be.
Ed thought this was a shop…. I thought it may have been a boarding house…way back…..
Ed was right…..it was a shop….but I would have never thought of a picture theatre!
This one was just an empty lot
These next photos are of the local Post Office. It’s up for sale if anyone is
There was a “lost notice” pinned on the board out the front of the PO……
🪰🪰🪰🪰🪰🤣🤣
Ed thought this knot in the tree looked like a monkey face?…..or some sort of animal…..
Our camp spot, I think I took that photo standing on an angle 🤦♀️
I’ve never seen a red Bougainvillea, and yes….there’s a house somewhere behind there. 😊
We thought the wind may have settled down a bit today, but of course…it was still blowing…so off we went to tackle it.
Luckily for us we had a great wind break all along as it was quite thick bush. 😊
So a big day driving……all of 40km 🤣…we arrived at Duaringa.
We have been here a few times before, but it’s one of our favourite camp spots.
There’s a population of 262 people.
The Dawson River is close by, and supplies Duaringa’s town water.
The Dawson and MacKenzie River both join up north-east of Duaringa to form the Fitzroy River, which eventually flows through the city of Rockhampton.
A mural depicting the three rivers is painted on the back of the Duaringa Historical & Info Centre, facing the Capricorn Highway…..
Also at the Info centre is a free WiFi point for all the travellers that need to charge, or need free WiFi which is a great idea.
I remember many years ago we were staying here, and Ed went missing….there he was using the Wifi to listen to a horse race.🤣🤣

And lastly……
Ed thought this knot in the tree looked like a monkey face?…..or some sort of animal…..
I was more interested in that “house” behind…..🤔🤔🙄 fire hazard happening there 😳
So that was our walking tour of Duaringa …..
Our camp spot, I think I took that photo standing on an angle 🤦♀️
Never mind….it’s a good spot away from all the other vans and we have a bit of green grass….
I’ve never seen a red Bougainvillea, and yes….there’s a house somewhere behind there. 😊
Stay safe 🦋🦋
