GOONDIWINDI Pt 3
This is our last day here. We’ve had a lovely time here exploring, and finding all there is to see. It’s such a well spread out town, and so clean and friendly…..as all these small towns are.

And this is the partial tin sign (as described above)…..you can just see the last bit of tin sticking out, and understand why they called it the Tree of Knowledge.

It’s amazing how a tree can grow around a tin sign and nearly cover it!

(That sign does say Goondiwindi……π«£ππ€«π·…..you know if you know π)

It was established on the Border of QLD/NSW to collect “customs duties” for goods coming into, and out of Queensland prior to the Federation of Australia in 1901.

Continuing down near the river….

And just over the road from the River was the old Customs House.
It was established on the Border of QLD/NSW to collect “customs duties” for goods coming into, and out of Queensland prior to the Federation of Australia in 1901.
It’s the only inland Customs House in Australia still in existence.
It was constructed in the 1870s.
So that’s it for Goondiwindi. We have enjoyed our stay here, but it’s time to move on.
Take care π¦π¦
