IT COULD ONLY HAPPEN TO US 😌

We left our beautiful spot at Clontarf this morning.
Packing up for Ed was really tough today as it was so hot and humid and I can’t possibly do the things he does as I’m just not strong enough, so I do inside.

Anyway, packed up, reversed the car onto the caravan, did the usual safety checks……and no lights working on the caravan.
No brake lights, no indicator lights. F***😑

So unhook the the plug, Ed has a special spray that keeps the plug clean, so a spray with that, and sometimes the points in the plug close up…..so opened all of them……plug it back into the car, check it all again ……still nothing…

By this time it had gotten about 10 degrees hotter…..πŸ₯΅

Ed did the whole thing again, sprayed everywhere , put the knife into the points to seperate them as sometimes they can close up, send up a prayer to the plug fairy…..and contact! We have lights!
Poor Ed…..dripping wet from the humidity….he was exhausted.

So off we go towards Tweed.

It’s a very, very, busy 4 lane highway back to Tweed as it’s the main road from Brisbane to Cairns. There’s also lots of roadworks.

So up and over the very steep bridge that crosses the Brisbane River and on through the traffic we go.

Driving along enjoying the ride and the air con when all of a sudden …..BANG!
and black smoke coming out of the exhaust and we lost power.

SHIT.

I’m in the middle of 4 lanes of traffic, huge semi trailers everywhere, towing a caravan.

So I closed my eyes…..(not really) …..and got over to the left and luckily there was an off ramp.
Turned down there and pulled over with hazard lights on, and called the RACQ

We had to put the fridge on gas as it was so hot….luckily we had lots of cold drink in the fridge while we waited for the mechanic. I think it was about 30 minutes wait.

So…..the story was…..

When we had had our new alternator put in by another RACQ bloke back at Clontarf caravan park…….he had to take the Carburetor off to fit the new alternator…..which was fine.

But…..apparently he didn’t tighten the Carby back on tight enough, so that’s what happened today.
Because I was towing, the car was under more pressure, which would be ok normally, but with a loose Carby, it just blew off……..which in turn, stopped the Turbo from working which is why I lost power.

Honestly you cannot rely on anyone these days. You just can’t make this shit up!!!   I’m just so damn thankful it didn’t happen going over that bridge today, because if you’ve been over that bridge, you would understand what I mean.
I don’t know where I would have been able to pull over……

So this young bloke fixed it for us….and followed us in his car along the freeway just to make sure it was ok.

It was so nice to get back to Tweed and settle in.

We went for a stroll along Tugun tonight. There was a nice cool sea breeze blowing.

That’s it. Back home and not moving anywhere for a little while now.

Take care everyone ❤️❤️❤️
