CHANGE OF PLANS.
When we left Dunedoo, we had all these great plans of going a way we had mapped out before we left Tweed!
Just how I feel too π€£π€£
Because we have been from Tweed to Mildura so many times, we had this planned forever…but…plans do change unfortunately.
Leaving Dunedoo, the roads became very rough because of all the flooding.
Driving along, I heard a noise from the car, but knowing Ed as I do, I didn’t mention anything. After a while, he heard it too, and yep, just the look on his face said a thousand words.
So we got to Narrandera, where we were headed, and set up at the Showgrounds.
Well panic set in for Ed and he decided to take the car into one of the many garages in the town.
He was gone quite a while, so I expected him to come back with info of what was actually wrong.
He eventually came back, panic written all over his face, saying no one would even look at the car as they were too busy…..and it wouldn’t be till AFTER EASTER π³ that they could even put it up on a hoist!
So we had to make the decision to keep travelling. So we packed up, and took off.
I had to drive another 175km to get to the next town…..not knowing what was wrong. We couldn’t even look at one another by now as we were so worried.
The road was terrible, the wind was against us, and when you are towing a caravan it’s not pleasant as you get buffered around.
The huge semi trailers were constant, and we were low on fuel, and there were no shops or petrol stations. Nothing!
Just paddocks and river.
I was a mess, but just kept driving, sent up a prayer to the fuel Angels, and 10 klm down the road we came to a petrol station. OMG. I could relax at last.
We got to Hay and set up at the Showgrounds. Ed went off in the car to the nearest garage and was once again told they were too busy……. But…..told Ed to go over the road to the local ARB shop.
It’s the largest stockist in Australia of 4 wheel drive accessories.
The lovely chap in there was great. He was also busy, and there was a car already on the hoist, so Ed waited until our car could go on the hoist.
Ed text me to say it was a broken shock absorber….but…the bloke had rung around everywhere and no one had our model in stock.
If you know of this place, Hay, you know it is an outback town known for its huge landscapes, cattle and sheep stations, known as the flattest place in the world, and is surrounded by flat, treeless plains.
Hay is one of Australia’s leading wool growing and sheep meat producing areas.
So in saying all of that, as you can imagine, every bloody man and their dog has a 4 wheel drive car here…and yet we own a bloody Aussie Holden 4 WD Car….and can’t get a f***ing set of shock absorbers????π‘
The lovely man at ARB did try every stockist in town, but no joy……..so he has a set coming from somewhere and will be here by Monday sometime. We hope.
The left hand shocker was completely broken, but he said it’s best to change both. Which is fine by us. He also said we were so lucky we made it this far, especially towing.
I agree, it was a nightmare.
Fingers crossed they turn up on Monday and we can finally be on our way.
We were able to go for a walk around the town today so I will do another blog tomorrow with more photos and less whinging. ππ❤️❤️
