OUR LAST DAY IN STOCKTON.

We had a huge day of walking today. Being it was our last day here, we just wanted to see as much as we could before we left.

So another trip over on the Ferry, and we did about a 12klm walk just taking in all the sights of Newcastle.

We were going to try to hop on the tram, but it was a cooler day so just headed for the beach.

Unfortunately it didn’t look as nice, and this is the beach we visited the other day and had our coffee. But we were glad it wasn’t sunny as we would never have been able to walk all the distance and see what we saw today.

These are the famous Newcastle City Baths. These were first opened in 1912, and are getting a well needed face lift.

Around the corner from here is Nobby Beach.

It’s a lovely protected beach, so great for families with young kids.

From there we walked along the promenade and up a very steep hill to the lighthouse. Not sure how we made it up there, but we did with tongues hanging on the ground.

They built this railway to carry the huge boulders up the top and along the breakwall. The left the railway there and concreted over it to make the pathway that is there now.

The view up the top was lovely.

That is our caravan park at the left hand side at the end of the breakwall. So the ferry is so handy as it takes nearly 40 klm to get where we are standing here by car!

It was much easier going down.

This is the old railway station which they have made into a play area for the kids.

Old customs house, and a beautiful bit of architecture of one of the many houses built.

So we had some lunch and caught the ferry home for the last time.

We will definitely be back here. We have really loved every single bit of this place. The caravan park, the ferry, the walking, the river, the beaches…..and we didn’t get to see all of it.

And the boats…..

This one came through just as we got off the ferry today. It was so big I couldn’t get the whole thing in….

That’s going past the ferry car park, with 4 huge tug boats guiding its way.

So that’s all for now. Not sure that I will continue the blog as we are going inland from here, so not much to see.

I will try to do an update every now and then. Take care everyone, stay safe and thanks for coming along with us. ❤️❤️❤️

****

Just wanted to add….the HMAS Sydney, a navel warship, sailed into port here on Friday. We walked down to see it last night. It was a beautiful night, and everything was so quiet. I tried to take a photo, but couldn’t do it as it blended into the night on the camera.

Ed and I both stood there in the silence, knowing who would have loved to see it too.

I just found out, that we leave tomorrow, and so does the ship.🥹

xx❤️
