BOORT VICTORIA.

We had a great time at Charlton, but it was time to leave, so we went on to the town of Boort. The main source of employment here are retail, olive processing and tourism, population being approx 900.

We are staying at the Showgrounds, where they ask for a donation for the use of power & water.
The lovely old bloke who was the maintenance man assured Ed that the water was safe for drinking, although our filter always goes on.

It’s a lovely old town..there’s not a lot of shops left open, which could be a consequence of different things.
There’s a local IGA supermarket, which isn’t very big but sells all the essentials
needed, so we’ve spent a bit of money there which all goes to help the community.
It made me laugh though as there was a very young girl standing outside the shop selling raffle tickets to help the surf lifesavers…….I would have thought the local farmers would have been more appropriate πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚……seeing we are such a long way from the sea.

Lake Boort is so pretty, a great spot for a swim in summer and picnic.

There’s also a caravan park on the other side of the Lake.

Beautiful flowering gumtree.

And another bowls club. Ed went in to see when they played next but he was a week too late as they’d finished for the season. πŸ™„

So that’s our tour of Boort. We’ve got another day or so here then we will check out the map to see where we go next.

There’s lots of lovely walks here.  You can walk right around the lake which we might do tomorrow if the wind dies down a bit. There’s also some beautiful old homes that I would kill for that we’ve seen as we walk to the lovely coffee shop in town. The Showgrounds are in walking distance to everywhere which is a bonus.

Take care everyone ❤️❤️
