MUSWELLBROOK SIGHTSEEING

Image
We drove to the railway station today as we’ve passed by it so many times and it looked so pretty. It’s a very busy station, being it transports coal from the local mines, and passengers as well to Sydney, Newcastle and beyond.  We can hear the trains from where we are at the Showgrounds if the wind is blowing in the right direction.  Next to the station is a lovely park.  We have seen the Magpies swooping the kids on bikes coming home from school….it’s that time of the year. 😳 The Plovers are also out and about so watch out for those bloody things that come and dive-bomb you. 🫣 There’s a few of these where we are at the moment too. Bastards…. I keep feeding the magpies hoping we stay friends 🤣🤣🤣

MURRURUNDI

We did a lovely drive today up the New England Highway that takes you through some gorgeous mountain scenery. The road condition was great  with no pot holes and plenty of overtaking lanes as it’s the main highway to Tamworth.  We stopped at the lovely town of Murrurundi which was about 65 klms from where we are staying.  What a gorgeous little country town it was, surrounded by stunning views of the surrounding mountains….and the weather was picture perfect 😉 This town was awarded Tidy Town in 2019. You can also adopt a “spot” and help in the upkeep of it.  This area is Horse Stud Heaven. We took a drive around the area and it was stunning.  The Godolphin Stud is out here as well as Gerry’s Plains. What a lovely drive it was through this beautiful part of NSW. ❤️❤️

MUSWELLBROOK. NSW

We’ve been here at Muswellbrook for a couple of days now. We’ve got our bearings of the town, and are lucky enough to have, Coles, Chemist Warehouse and the Reject Shop just a stones throw away from us…..within walking distance…….so what more could you want 😂 We’ve had some beautiful days…..but my goodness it gets so cold……cold enough to snow, which it has been known to do here. 😳🥶 Luckily this just missed us…but the blast of icy wind didn’t. 🥶🥶 Yesterday we heard them blasting at one of the coal mines close by…..made the ground move……luckily I knew what it was as I was outside at the time. There are a lot of heritage listed buildings in the town. Just a walk through town and you can spot many of them ….. And the Churches in this town are massive and so stunning. The town itself is very hilly, so a walk around it is a great workout. 😮‍💨 It got a bit chilly in the afternoon so after having Subway for lunch, we came home. Ed went outside to rig up an Anderson plug so he can put a

MORE TRAVELS BACK TO TWEED HEADS.

Left Forbes in the rain and headed to Dunedoo…population 1,000   Lighting wasn’t that good as it decided to come over stormy. We stayed the night at the small caravan park, $30….. bit overpriced, but like everything….the price has gone up.  Next day, after travelling on some horrific roads…..we got to Merriwa. We stayed behind the Pub, which was free, got some shopping an the local IGA, found this lovely Mural on the side wall made out of corrugated iron…. And basically stayed in the caravan as it rained all day and night.  Luckily next day, it had stopped raining, it was very muddy though where we were staying. Yuk  Headed off again, road conditions got worse, and stopped for the night at Gerry’s Plains.  It’s our usual stop free stop over. We found a nice spot next to the fence line, and had an audience as we set up. These horses are always here to greet you every time we come. So I had a lovely view while doing the dishes out of my kitchen window all afternoon😂😂 So we left that be

FORBES NSW

After staying at West Wyalong for 5 days we thought it time to move on.  We had a lovely time there, did lots of walking as the weather was just beautiful.  So this morning we headed off to another one of our favourites…Forbes. That’s us in the background, in the sun. Over the years, this town has always been so good to us. We sheltered here over Covid, and every day would get a knock on the door to ask if we were ok.  We again sheltered here when our car broke down, and was again asked if we were ok by the Forbes council people.  The people are always friendly and always willing to help out.  This free camp is situated on a lake.  You can walk everywhere from the van. This walk takes you along the water and over the bridge ( which you can just make out in the distance) Once over that one lane bridge, you go past the bowls club, (yep they are everywhere) This is the outdoor area which looks over the lake where you can sit and have a coffee.
