CHANGE OF PLANS.

Image
When we left Dunedoo, we had all these great plans of going a way we had mapped out before we left Tweed! Because we have been from Tweed to Mildura so many times, we had this planned forever…but…plans do change unfortunately.  Leaving Dunedoo,  the roads became very rough because of all the flooding.  Driving along, I heard a noise from the car, but knowing Ed as I do, I didn’t mention anything. After a while, he heard it too, and yep, just the look on his face said a thousand words.  So we got to Narrandera, where we were headed, and set up at the Showgrounds.  Well panic set in for Ed and he decided to take the car into one of the many garages in the town.  He was gone quite a while, so I expected him to come back with info of what was actually wrong.  He eventually came back, panic written all over his face, saying no one would even look at the car as they were too busy…..and it wouldn’t be till AFTER EASTER 😳 that they could even put it up on a hoist! So we had to make the decisi

FORBES NSW

We have a love/hate relationship with Forbes. We have been staying at Forbes when we pass through this town for a number of years now.  It’s a lovely country town with supermarkets, a small Kmart Hub, and a lovely supermarket called Bernardo’s which also has a huge variety shop attached to it.  If you need something, you will always find it in Bernardo’πŸ˜‚ Forbes is also where our Jeep broke down 😒, and we had to get it, and our caravan towed all the way back to Tweed. I loved that car, even though it was an expensive car to maintain, and was so sorry to see it go. If I was ever lucky enough to buy a new car, it would definitely be a Jeep.  So we stay at a lovely camp right along the river every time we stay here.  It’s a great walk over this bridge and you are in the town centre. Unfortunately, not so long ago, this whole town was under water from the bad floods. They have done a great job in restoring the town so we are always happy to spend money by doing our shopping and fill up wi

DUNEDOO. NSW

Image
Arrived at Dunedoo (pronounced Dunny Do )about lunch time. It’s such a hilly road from Jerry’s Plains and the roads are atrocious from all the rain. Plus it was very windy and I was getting blown around which didn’t make for a relaxing drive, but we are here safe and sound.  We went for a walk around the town, which has a population of 1,000 people.  Dunedoo is well known to Aussie travellers due to its distinctive name. A lot of people call it Dunny don’t … because they didn’t like it, but we think it’s nice little country town.  There is Silo Art here to see….. Winx is a retired champion Aussie thoroughbred racehorse.   Between May 2015 and her retirement in April 2019 she won 33 consecutive races including 25 Group 1s ( a world record) In 2017 she was inducted into the Aus Racing Hall of Fame and over her career, she earned more than 26 million Aussie dollars.  Chris Waller is the trainer there and Hugh Bowman was her jockey.  She has since retired. FROM THE BEACH TO THE BUSH.

Well I think I remember saying that I wouldn’t post for a while. πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ That’s a joke, you can’t shut me up when we travel.  We are staying here for the night at a place called Jerry’s Plains.  We’ve been here a few times before, but it’s always a good stopover.  It’s a free camp, with no power, but it does have toilets and water if you need them.  There’s a few of us in tonight. A few families, a lady on her own and couples like us……so it’s a safe place to stop.  There’s a pub in the town to accomodate the 385 residents. A school, and a police station, a petrol station with cheap fuel, and a vet.  This is the lovely police house, never seen anyone in it though.  And of course there’s always the horses that come say hello around dinner time.. when your cooking carrots…. Loves a pat this horse.  Stand off…..πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ Ok then…… Loves his horses…. Tomorrow we head off and travel through some beautiful country, it’s one of my favourite drives as you go past the Godolphin Estate.  It’s the global

A BEAUTIFUL SUNRISE.

Image
I went down to the beach this morning while Ed was packing up. It was a beautiful sunrise, and I just wanted a last look at this view.  I spoke to the lady in the office this morning just to say goodbye and thank her….and straight away she said…..you will be back won’t you!πŸ˜‚ And for sure we will. We loved our time here as it’s a no frills park, and she said we would be able to pick a site and book it, as I told her every time I heard a ships horn I would have to run so as not to miss it go through. So a closer one will be much better.  The HMAS Sydney leaves today.  There is also a Fort on the top of the hill overlooking the entrance to this Port, and as the Sydney goes through she will do a Gun Salute.  Ed said we could wait so as I could watch it……but I don’t think I could’ve. No doubt I would be a blubbering mess….and I have to drive today. πŸ₯Ή How could I possibly stand there and watch those men dressed in uniform saluting…❤️πŸ‡¦πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡¦πŸ‡Ί So it’s goodbye Stockton.. Take care everyone πŸ₯°

OUR LAST DAY IN STOCKTON.

Image
We had a huge day of walking today. Being it was our last day here, we just wanted to see as much as we could before we left.  So another trip over on the Ferry, and we did about a 12klm walk just taking in all the sights of Newcastle.  We were going to try to hop on the tram, but it was a cooler day so just headed for the beach.  Unfortunately it didn’t look as nice, and this is the beach we visited the other day and had our coffee. But we were glad it wasn’t sunny as we would never have been able to walk all the distance and see what we saw today.  These are the famous Newcastle City Baths. These were first opened in 1912, and are getting a well needed face lift.  Around the corner from here is Nobby Beach.  It’s a lovely protected beach, so great for families with young kids.  From there we walked along the promenade and up a very steep hill to the lighthouse. Not sure how we made it up there, but we did with tongues hanging on the ground.  They built this railway to carry the huge

THE FERRY STOCKTON.

We can’t get enough of this ferry. Today we hopped on it again and this time, Ed wanted to sit up the front.  It was a different perspective seeing all the docks and the ships docked there.  So off we went for a walk, turning right towards the shopping precinct. We felt a bit out of place walking along in thongs and shorts while all the business people were all dressed to the nines.  There is also a massive University in the town centre and it’s such a sight with all its different angles. There’s lots of building going on in the city.  I couldn’t get a photo of it as it was so huge..so had to get it off google.  We went back to the museum to finish off the story of BHP but it was too busy with school students, so we just strolled along the waterfront, said hello to some random person, and then realised afterwards I had just said hello to Daryl Braithwaite πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ So we had a stroll around the city again as we were looking for something to eat, found a small shopping centre and had Sushi f

MORE OF NEWCASTLE.

Well the trip home on the Ferry yesterday afternoon wasn’t as smooth as the trip over in the morning. The wind had picked up a bit, and it took a little while to take off after boarding as they have to give way to the huge ships coming in.  Once we got going it was a lot better than bobbing up and down like a cork at the dock. πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ We were sitting in the caravan this morning and heard one of the ships horns go off. I looked out of the windows in the van, and there were people running around everywhere like ants.  So not wanting to miss out on anything, Ed and I took off too, and in the rush forgot my phone, even though I had no idea what I was going to look at. πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ We are just a hop, step & jump away from the entrance to the docks, and saw that huge Cruise Ship sailing past the caravan park.  One of the ladies said to me….”you always know when it’s a cruise ship leaving as they blow their horns a lot to bid farewell” I must say it was a lovely sight….(doesn’t take much to please m
